MARKET LIVE: Sensex slips 250 pts, Nifty breaches 16K; Metals, Realty drag

Stock market live updates: The key benchmark indices pared opening gains on Thursday on subdued market sentiment and the monthly F&O expiry.

In early deals, the BSE Sensex was up only 100 points to 53,850 while the NSE Nifty was around the flatline at 16,020.

The broader markets were sharply underperforming the benchmarks. The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices slipped up to 1.5 per cent.

Auto, Metals, Realty, PSBs and FMCG were under pressure, down 1-2 per cent.

Financials was firm, while IT was flat.

Among stocks, Deepak Fertilisers extended its rally, gaining over 4 per cent. The company on Wednesday reported a 144.30 per cent jump in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) at Rs 282.91 crore for the quarter ended March 2022.
