Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested two armed robbery suspects who specialise in robbing victims of their valuables on the Next Niger Bridge.
A statement on Monday by the condition police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, explained the law enforcement officers connected to Harbour Division, who were on a surveillance patrol on the bridge carried out the arrest on Sunday.
According to him, the surveillance patrol crew had been stationed on the bridge to protect against the stealing of enlargement joints on the bridge.
“The police workforce on surveillance patrol on the bridge to protect against vandals from thieving enlargement joints have been alerted to the gang’s actions near the Obosi finish of the bridge.
“The Covert Law enforcement Workforce monitored the gang and swooped in on them arresting two of the gangsters although many others fled.
“When searched, two daggers and 5 sim playing cards taken out from beforehand stolen telephones have been recovered from the suspects aged involving 20 and 22 several years.
“One of the suspects hailed from Enugu State and the other from Ebonyi State”, Ikenga mentioned.
He added that the Commissioner of Law enforcement, CP Aderemi Adeoye, recommended the patrol staff for its vigilance and bravery in confronting the gang.
“The CP has directed that entrepreneurs of the recovered sim playing cards be found to assemble proof for the productive prosecution of the arrested suspects,” he included.
