A socio-cultural team, Edo Nationwide Voice (ENV), has accused Edo Point out governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, of shortchanging the Benin Traditional Council (BTC) of its month-to-month allocations for a few months working.

At a press conference organised by the President, Iyamu Osaro Society and its Secretary General, Comrade Collins Osaghae Amadin, above the weekend, the ENV alleged that “the lack of ability of Governor Obaseki to just take custody of our returned stolen Artefacts has made him to orchestrate numerous strategies to undermine everything that is connected to our revered Throne, Tradition, Custom, Tailor made and Heritage.

“His most current motion due to his inability to take custody of our returned stolen Artefacts was obviously seen in the behaviours of some of the defiant Enigies who were being agitating for their personal local governing administration classic council as against our wonderful Oba of Benin Kingdom consent who is entirely vested with the authority to grant this sort of request.”

ENV also accused the governor of “withholding three months allocations of Benin Regular Council. In the very last few months, he has been slashing statutory allocations to Benin Regular Council.”

The team known as on Governor Obaseki to promptly release the Benin Traditional Council allocations for a few months he allegedly withheld although calling on the incoming President, Bola Tinubu, the Federal Ministry of Finance and, the Federal Ministry of Justice, to get in touch with the governor to order and quickly launch all the allocations.
