The progress of the southwest monsoon that provides rain across the Indian sub continent is getting monitored right after it arrived in Kerala on Thursday, seven times later on than the standard arrival date, an India Meteorological Department official explained in this article.

The regular day for onset of monsoon in Maharashtra is June 10 and in Mumbai is June 11, claimed S G Kamble, the Mumbai head of IMD Regional Meteorological Centre.
