Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is scheduled to make an announcement this afternoon in southwestern Ontario about electric powered auto production.

Trudeau will be joined by Ontario Leading Doug Ford and the province’s Financial Progress Minister Vic Fedeli for an announcement at 12:15 p.m. ET in Ingersoll, Ont.

Trudeau’s itinerary says the announcement will “mark a milestone in producing electrical cars.”

The town is dwelling to the Standard Motors CAMI creation plant, which the automaker declared in April would be retooled by the conclude of the calendar year into what it termed the country’s to start with comprehensive-scale commercial electrical automobile manufacturing facility.

The provincial and federal governments each and every invested $259 million toward that project and GM’s strategy to make its Oshawa, Ont., plant EV-completely ready.
